Mission, Vision, & Values

The mission of the Millinocket Memorial Library is to enrich lives, inspire imaginations, and empower community.

Our vision is to be a vibrant center of resources, creativity, and exploration where all people can express themselves, learn, and connect with their community. We aim to foster a healthy and connected Katahdin Region where everyone has the support they need to thrive in all stages of life.

  • We are committed to free and equal access for people of all abilities and to serving the diverse needs of our entire community.
  • We strive to protect intellectual freedom by providing materials that represent all points of view and by challenging censorship as it arises.
  • We believe in empowering individuals with the tools they need to create opportunities for themselves.
  • We believe in the importance of respect for oneself, for each other, and for our community.
  • We believe in the power of ideas to transform people and change the world.
  • We value the cultural heritage of our region and seek to honor the past as we prepare for the future.
  • We believe in the intrinsic value of collaboration and partnership.
  • We strive to be responsible stewards of our natural resources and to root our facility improvements and library operations in environmental sustainability best practices.
