About the Gear Library
HOW WE GOT STARTED
The gear library was founded by Millinocket Memorial Library in 2018 with support from Outdoor Sport Institute, Maine Community Foundation, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Bicycle Coalition of Maine, and many private donors to support healthy living, empowerment through knowledge, and community-building through outreach, communication, and volunteerism.
If you are interested in starting a similar program in your community, contact Mike Smith at mike@outdoorsi.org.
The gear library is staffed by our KGL general manager, teen interns, and local volunteers. Learn more abut how to get involved with the gear library as a volunteer or intern by stopping by during open hours, or emailing info@katahdingearlibrary.org

Gear library staff and volunteers host regular educational and recreational programs and workshops for all ages.
