BACKPACKS

Our backpacks can be used for hiking and backpacking year round. Members may check out backpacks for up to 24 hours at a time for FREE. To learn more about becoming a member, click here.

For non-members, backpacks can be rented for $5 per day or for $25 per week for up to two weeks. Once you return a backpack, you must wait at least 24 hours before checking one out again.

When can I check out a backpack?

Whenever the gear library is open. Our hours vary by season, so the best place to find our current hours is by checking our Facebook page or giving us a call at 207-200-4767.

What type of backpacks does the KGL lend?

We offer L.L. Bean backpacking backpacks for adults.

What if I lose or damage a backpack?

As outlined in our waiver, you are responsible for the replacement cost for any lost or significantly damaged gear. Backpacks cost $50 to replace.

Does the gear library accept backpack donations?

At this time, we do not accept gear donations, due to limited space. Thank you for thinking of us!

Does the gear library do backpack repairs?

We do not currently have the capacity to provide backpack repairs. If you have skills in this area and would like to be involved, please email the gear library at info@katahdingearlibrary.org.
