Katahdin Gazetteer Visioning Workshop Midway Presentation

Katahdin Gazetteer Vision Workshop Midway Presentation & Conversations

We will share back what we have heard so far in the Vision Workshop—what seems clear as day and what still seems clear as mud. We will discuss what’s on the mark, what’s missing, and what needs to be clarified so that the Vision and Action Plan that emerges is a correct reflection of you and your neighbors’ hopes for the region.

What is a public visioning workshop?

It’s a multi-day interactive public gathering. It’s full of conversations and listening. It’s free and open to all, and all are invited. This is how we begin to craft a regional Vision and Action Plan that is built on your hopes and dreams for the future of the Katahdin Region. During the course of the Public Visioning Workshop, you will see a Vision and Action Plan begin to take shape. You will also see that it is developed in direct response to you and your neighbors’ feedback and ideas.

For more information about the Public Visioning Workshop and the Katahdin Gazetteer, please visit the Katahdin Collaborative website, email katahdingazetteer@gmail.com, or call (207) 794-4269.

Getting Back on Your Bike

Getting Back on Your Bike at the Katahdin Gear Hub! An introduction to bicycles for adults who have ridden in the past but would like to get reacquainted with riding. We have a fleet of bikes and will be spending approximately 45 minutes going over bicycle safety in a classroom setting. The remaining time will be out on a bicycle practicing what we have learned. Previous bicycle riding experience is required. We will have flexibility built into the curriculum based on the experience of attendees, but this should not be your first time riding a bike. This class will not cover technical mountain bike riding. We will be practicing on grass and may graduate to a ride around town for those who would like to.

Explore New Worlds Series: Alaska

Luke Howard spent four years living in Alaska, the first year in the remote Southwest “Bush”, inaccessible by road, and the last years in Talkeetna, about 100 miles north of Anchorage.

Luke was licensed as a private pilot when he was 17 years old. In 2013, after a 27 year career in law, he moved to Alaska to become a bush pilot. He spent the next four years living and working for airport and fire/rescue services in the bush, King Salmon, and Talkeetna. In 2017, Luke was licensed as a commercial pilot and is the jump pilot for Jump and Raft Adventures. We hope you will join us for Luke’s fascinating photo tour as part of our Explore New Worlds Series: Alaska!
