MML’s Leadership Transition
Diana Furukawa, who has served as MML’s Library Director since 2021, will be stepping down from her role at the end of November.
Diana first joined MML in 2018 in the role of Volunteer Coordinator, before becoming the Library Director in 2021. During her time as the Library Director, she oversaw the Library’s first strategic plan, expanded programs and services, strengthened the Library’s partnership with the Town of Millinocket, and secured new sources of funding for long-term sustainability.
“Diana has led the Library through a critical period in our development, and we are beyond grateful for her service, leadership, and vision. We wish her all the best going forward,” said Ed Girsa, President of MML’s Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors has established a hiring committee that will begin the search for the Library’s next Director in early fall. The Library will share more updates in the coming months as the transition moves forward.
Reflecting on her time at MML, Diana said, “Serving as Director of MML has been the most meaningful and rewarding work I’ve ever done, and I’m so proud of all that we’ve been able to accomplish over the past four years. I’m grateful to the community for their support and to the entire Library team– board members, staff, and volunteers– for their hard work and dedication. It’s been an honor to work with all of you.”
