Temporary elevator closure

Starting September 8th, the Library’s elevator will be out of service for about a month. Why? We are modernizing our elevator so that it is safe and reliable for years to come.
During this time, the Library’s main floor will remain fully accessible and the stairs to the basement will remain open. If you are unable to use our stairs and need books located on the first floor, please ask a staff member for assistance. Meetings and programs scheduled for the first floor will include a Zoom option whenever possible during the elevator closure. We apologize for the inconvenience.
This elevator modernization project was made possible by funding from the FY24 Agriculture Appropriations Bill sponsored by Senator Angus King and Senator Susan Collins. Additional funding for the project derives from a grant from the American Library Association’s “Libraries Transforming Communities” grant.
